Although I set foot in Asia in 2004, I returned to the continent in 2011 and have been returning every year since 2015 when I started working as a tour guide in Myanmar.
I have more or less researched, China, Laos, Myanmar, India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. I have a lot more to discover about this continent – after all, it gives me a lot of peace (except India, all told) – and I hope to continue to unravel its secrets, enjoy its landscapes and explore. The culture of its people.
In the world’s most populous continent, you would normally find two absolutely most populous countries. China And India. Well away from them, they are IndonesiaIts endless islands are densely populated Pakistan and BangladeshA typical country test where a pin doesn’t fit.
beauty Japan It is the sixth most populous country in Asia (as long as we consider Russia as a European country), and is one of the countries that has become fashionable as a tourist destination in recent years. PhilippinesAt number seven, the capital city of Manila is teeming with endless suburbs.
VietnamThe usual suspect of tourism in Southeast Asia, ranked eighth.
It ranks ninth on the list IranI’ve only heard good things (despite the bad international press) and it’s a country I really want to visit.
Rounding out the top 10 most populous countries in Asia – considering its Asian side alone – is one of my favorite countries in the world. Turkey itselfIstanbul surprised me and the Lycian Way made me fall in love.
After the Turkish giant comes the self-styled “Land of Smiles”. Thailand It is a major tourist center in Southeast Asia. I have visited it twice and for me the truth is that it has lost its magic. It still has islands, beaches, jungles, temples and fascinating towns, but the truth is that everything is now overcrowded and many of its people have lost their true character when dealing with tourists. I don’t know, if you go to Thailand, I advise you to look for areas that are less touristy.
Myanmar It is the twelfth most populous country in Asia. What about Myanmar? I feel more than lucky to be able to work there. It’s my favorite Asian country (from what I know) and I hope to be back for years to come. Of course, go to Myanmar soon, because it is becoming more and more popular, gradually losing its charm. The best of the country: its people.
South Korea, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan They rank 13 to 16, while another favorite country of mine, Malaysia, is ranked 17th.
In my opinion, Malaysia is underestimated. Less trodden than Thailand, it’s a place that brings colonial cities, stunning islands, jungle, mountains, good people, the modernity of Kuala Lumpur and a fascinating and diverse cuisine.
follows him NepalA country I fell in love with for its mountains and the nobility and human dignity of its people.
Afghanistan and Yemen Closing this list, I’m now on my list of countries I don’t want to visit.
