And if the plan really materializes, you can add another destination to your Goa trip. That is ‘alcohol’. Just read the word acohol and you should understand that it is related to alcohol. Candolim is a small village in Goa. Surrounded by beaches. This museum is built there. ‘Alcohol’ is the story of Feni, the traditional liquor of Goa. The Portuguese brought cashew trees to Goa from Brazil in the 1700s. It is from here that the cashew juice is fermented and frothed. Feni has been used in Goa since the Portuguese colonial period. ‘All About Alcohol’ traces the history of how feni became popular in Goa from the Portuguese colony. That is why the touch of Portuguese colonialism can be seen in this museum.
‘All Akol’ is spread over an area of about 13,000 square feet. The museum shows how ‘feni’ was made in ancient times and how it was collected. Therefore, various vessels and liquors have been preserved here in ancient times. There are various types of clay and wooden jars, glass, wooden decanters, brass jugs etc. Goan style craftsmanship is also found there. Travel back to 1946 when you visit ‘All About Alcohol’. Feni was prepared using cashews and coconuts in bars during that time and can be seen in this museum.
‘Feni’ is the oldest and traditional liquor of Goa. So, don’t drink this sura while visiting Goa, be that as it may. On the ‘All About Alcohol’ tour, you can taste the liquor and see the history of feni production. Feni tasting and pairing sessions are organized for tourists at the museum. ‘All About Alcohol’ is a place not to be missed when visiting Goa.
