Jitendra is an actor who ruled the Bollywood box office in the 1970s and 1980s. The actor excelled in both acting and dancing. There have even been incidents where many actresses competed to be the heroine for him. The actor has faced many controversies in real life even while he shines on screen. Controversies in his personal life range from wanting to marry his friend’s girlfriend to secret relationships with leading actresses.
Jitendra acted in about two hundred films in his career. More than a hundred of them are blockbusters. Jitendra made her debut as a junior artist with Navrang directed by Shantaram. The actor was reprimanded by the director for not being able to pronounce the dialogue correctly even after thirty takes. But five years later, the same director made him the hero of the film Geet Gaya Patharon Ne. What followed was his rise to become one of Bollywood’s greatest actors.
Jitendra is married to producer Shobha Sippy. Jitendra first met Shobha when he was 14 years old and became friends with her. That friendship later turned into love. Finally in 1974 both married. Shobha is working as a flight attendant that day. After the marriage, the star wife left that job and went into the field of production.
Meanwhile, most of the controversies and gossip in Jitendra’s career occurred after the marriage. One of the most discussed was her love affair with the actress Rekha. Jeetendra reportedly became intimate with Rekha while she was acting in the film Ek Bechara.
Their chemistry was exercised in that movie and they teamed up in the next movie called Anogi Ada. With that movie also becoming a huge hit, their chemistry became a topic of discussion among the audience. And also the news came out that they are dating. But they soon parted ways.
Even when he fell in love with Rekha, the actor was not ready to let Shobha go. This reportedly led to a fight with Rekha and they broke up. But there are reports that Jitendra saw Rekha as just a passing of time and the actress left the relationship after knowing this.
After Rekha, Jitendra’s name was discussed in relation to actress Hema Malini. It is reported that Jeetendra, who had a close relationship with the actress, even thought of marrying her. But Hema Malini has mentioned in her autobiography that she and Jitendra were not in love and that it was her parents who wanted her to marry Jitendra.
Meanwhile, after his marriage to Shobha, there are reports that Jeetendra has been in love with actresses Sridevi and Jayaprata. But not many stories have come out about it. Jitendra has two children from his relationship with Shobha. Son Tusshar Kapoor follows in his father’s footsteps and shines in cinema. His daughter Ekta Kapoor is a well-known director and producer in the television industry.
