Nepotism is a never ending hot topic in Bollywood. There are different opinions about nepotism among the actors themselves. Everyone from Alia Bhatt to Varun Dhawan are known as Nepo Kids. When others point out the opportunities that come with being a starchild, starchildren are often reluctant to accept it. They often say that there is no such thing as nepotism.
At the same time, people from Nawazuddin Siddiqui to Siddhant Chaturvedi, who arrived without roots in Bollywood star families, have been denied opportunities due to nepotism. After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, there was a widespread protest against nepotism. But Mrinal Thakur has a different view on nepotism.
Mrinal is an ‘outsider’ in Bollywood. Mrinal did not have the support or connections of the star families. Mrinal began his career through television. The actor is turning heads with the series Kumkum Bhagya. Later, he made his entrance into Bollywood with the movie Love Sonia. Mrinal became a leading man after acting in movies like Super 30, Batla House, Jers, and Sita Ram.
In 2019, Mrinal responded to a question about nepotism while attending the MAMI Film Festival. Mrinal says crime isn’t just for the sons and daughters of stars. Mrinal also involves the media and fans going after him.
Let’s start with the media. For example, unfortunately we don’t have Ananya or Jhanvi. But I have something to say. It’s not his fault. they are stars. Ordinary people like us are curious about what is going on in their lives. Let me give you a simple example. I’m doing an interview at an awards night. Mrinal said that if a star child suddenly appears, the media will run after him.
“I got the Critics Award for Best Actress. Jhanvi also has an award. But I didn’t even get the speech. I’m not saying I’m jealous. It’s not his fault. So nepotism should stop being called nepotism. Now there’s been a big change. Karan cast me and Avinash in Ghost Stories. That means no nepotism,” Mrinal said.
“It seems that things depend on the audience and the media. People see me for you. But these same people also talk about nepotism,” says Mrinal. Mrinal’s words had become a huge discussion on social media.
