Actresses with a career chart like Neena Gupta’s are rare in Bollywood. While it is common for hero actresses to get better opportunities at a young age and then the market declines, the opposite was true for Neena Gupta. It was around the age of 60 that Nina started playing different roles and getting a lot of attention from the public. Neena Gupta has changed the thinking that middle-aged people have no innovation in career and life.
Neena’s career chart changed after the Badai Ho movie released in 2018. Neena is currently busy in Bollywood with a handful of opportunities. Neena Gupta has opened up about an unwanted kiss scene. Neena shared her experience in the Dilangi series that she did years ago. She acted in that series with actor Dilip Dhawan. My first TV kiss scene was on that show. Neena says that she couldn’t even sleep because of the kiss scene.
Dilip Dhawan and I were friends and I was hesitant about the kiss scene. It was also nice to meet him. But I was neither mentally nor physically prepared for such a scene. But he decided to make the scene. Wash your mouth out with Dettol after the scene. It was very difficult for him to kiss a stranger. Some actors can’t do comedy. Some people can’t cry. Nina openly said that such hesitation was for her.
Even after filming the scene, I couldn’t sleep. But that scene was omitted from the series. In those days, there were no such scenes in the series. The filmmakers avoided the scene thinking it would be controversial.
Neena Gupta recently spoke about growing up without sex education. My mother did not talk to me about sexuality or menstruation. I also slept in the room with my father, mother and brother. She wasn’t even allowed to hang out with her friends. Neena Gupta also recalled that the girls were told at the time what would happen in the early hours of the night before their marriage.
Neena Gupta’s next project is an anthology called Lust Stories. Neena’s daughter, Masaba Gupta, is a well-known fashion designer in Bollywood. Masaba is the daughter of West Indian cricketer Vivian Richard. Nina and Vivienne Richard later broke up. Years later, in 2008, Neena married Vivek Mehra, a chartered accountant.
Masaba Gupta’s husband is actor Satyadeep Mishra. The wedding took place in January of this year. This was Masaba’s second marriage. Masaba separated from her ex-husband Madhu Mandhana in 2020. Recently, Madhu Mandana also entered another married life. Neena Gupta also wished for the second marriage of her son-in-law. Nina and her daughter Masaba are active on social media.
