Help! My Card Was Charged for "EPML DE INTERNET 2333280"

  • 5

Recently, I noticed some strange charges on my credit card statement from something called “EPML DE INTERNET 2333280”. The charges were for around €17-22 and appeared multiple times over the past few months, even on a card I had cancelled a while ago.

I didn’t recognize this charge at all and hadn’t made any purchases from the Louvre Museum or anything similar. Has anyone else seen this before? Is this a legitimate charge or could it be some kind of fraud?

I’m really concerned about what this is and why it’s appearing on my statements. Any insight would be much appreciated! I want to make sure I get to the bottom of this before it causes any bigger issues.

  1. Based on the information provided, it seems the EPML DE INTERNET 2333280 charge is related to online ticket purchases for the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Établissement Public du Musée du Louvre (EPML) is the administrative organization that manages the museum and handles online ticket sales.

The terms and conditions on their website indicate this is a legitimate merchant agreement they use for internet-based ticket transactions. However, the fraudulent activity you and others have reported suggests your card information may have been compromised and used without your knowledge.

I would recommend contacting your bank immediately to dispute the unauthorized charges, get your card replaced, and monitor your accounts closely for any other suspicious activity. It’s also a good idea to check the EPML website to see if they have any information about potential data breaches that could have led to this fraud.

  2. I also got hit with a few of these charges on my card – one for €19 and three others for €17 each. I declined all of them since I didn’t recognize the charges and had never been to the Louvre. Looks like my card info got compromised somehow. Time to get a new card and keep a close eye on my statements.
