What is this American Norwalk, CT charge on my credit card?

  • 4

I was really confused when I saw this charge on my credit card statement the other day. At first, I thought it might be some kind of fraud, but after doing some research, I’m not so sure.

It seems this charge is actually related to a flight I booked through Priceline, an online travel agency. Apparently, Priceline’s headquarters are located in Norwalk, Connecticut, so that’s why the charge shows up as “American Norwalk, CT” even though I booked a flight with American Airlines.

From what I’ve read, this is a pretty common thing with Priceline – they’ll initially just put a hold on your card when you book, and then the actual charge from the airline (in this case, American) shows up later, often with the “Norwalk, CT” location.

So in my case, the charge seems to be legitimate and match up with the flight I purchased. But I can understand why it would be concerning to see at first, especially if you weren’t expecting it.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this kind of charge? I’d be curious to hear if it was legitimate for you as well, or if you ended up dealing with some kind of fraud. Let me know your thoughts!

  1. I had a similar charge show up after booking a trip through Priceline, but in my case it was for the exact amount of the flight I had purchased, so it ended up being legit. Definitely worth double-checking though if you’re unsure.
